C. Louise Cross
For Louise Cross of Glendive, MT, service is simply a part of her moral fiber and value system.
She was instrumental in urging the 1972 revision of the Montana State Constitution to include "the right to a clean and healthful environment".
Lt. Governor John Bohlinger and First Lady Nancy Schweitzer recognized seven Montana citizens who have greatly enhanced civic life in Montana through dedication and commitment to community service during the Governor's Conference on Civic Engagement awards banquet and ceremony on September 25, 2007.
Louisa was honored with the Lifetime acheivement award. The Governor's Awards for Civic Engagement originated in 2000 with the belief that recognition of service and engagement will serve as a reward and encourage others to adopt a "can do" attitude. The winners are selected based upon their commitment to cultivating an ethic of service in their communities.
Louise has been a vital part of Glendive and it's history. Louise throws her heart and soul into every group she joins and every project she works on.
Louise is a person who quietly "gets things done," and will be the first to say no one could accomplish these feats alone.
Her secret lies in the ability to engage the interest and assistance of many others.
