Friends,

Montana Conservation Voters tracks the legislative votes and actions that affect our clean air, water, healthy communities and hunting and fishing heritage.  We provide a weekly “Hotlist” of proposed legislation, and give you the low-down on how to connect with lawmakers.

This week, the Montana State Senate’s Energy committee will consider several bills that would damage Montana’s burgeoning clean energy economy.  One of the most radical is SB 109 (Sen. Barrett R – Dillon), which would destroy the state’s best incentives for clean, renewable energy development.  Montana has a renewable energy standard, which requires regulated utilities to acquire 15% of their energy resources from clean, renewable sources by 2015.  This radical bill would eliminate incentives for new renewable energy development because it would count the energy from century-old dams toward the standard.

Please review the Hotlist for our summary of the important bills up this week.  Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns!

Thanks,
