Rep. Betsy Hands for HD99
Rep. Betsy Hands is currently seeking reelection for her second term as a MT State Representative in HD 99.
Professionally, Betsy works for an innovative and nationally recognized organization (homeWORD) that's a leader in affordable housing and sustainable development projects in Missoula, and across the state. She received a B.A. at the University of Michigan in Social Science with a focus on sustainable development, and an advanced degree from the University of Montana. Betsy traveled to West Africa as a Peace Corps volunteer, where she worked as a rural development extension agent.
Betsy ran a very unique yet successful campaign in 2006. Most notable was Betsy's 10-day, 700-mile pedal across central Montana communicating a vision for the future: homegrown fuels, energy independent communities, and a stronger economy based on resource independence. Betsy earned a 100% on MCV's 2007 Legislative Scorecard. Good conservation bills she sponsored in 2007: Passed - HJ 24 - Urge ban of exportation of elemental mercury | Rejected - HB 753 - Reduce Montana's contribution to climate change with the Global Warming Solutions Act.
She will match up against Jedediah Cox (R) this November.
