Gail Gutsche for PSC District #4
Former state Rep. Gail Gutsche, a Missoula Democrat, is running for the Public Service Commission seat held by Republican Commissioner Doug Mood.
PSC Region 4 includes seven counties: Granite, Powell, Ravalli, Sanders, Lincoln, Mineral and Missoula
Gail's time in Montana Legislature proved her to be an outstanding advocate for conservation, and she was instrumental in passing legislation to protect our clean air and water, and preserve wildlife habitat. She hopes to bring her fine conservation ethic to the PSC leading the charge for energy conservation and development of more "renewable" power resources, such as wind power.
By contrast, her opponent, Doug Mood (R-Seeley Lake), who currently sits on the PSC, was an ardent supporter of electric deregulation. He voted for deregulation during the 1997 legislative session and defended it in subsequent sessions.
Deregulation has been a disaster and all Montanans are living with the consequences of this hastily made, little-debated legislation.
