Ron Tussing for PSC District #2

| |

Ron Tussing for PSC 2Ron Tussing would bring a commitment to renewable energy and a conservation-minded perspective to his role as Public Service Commissioner.

Ron currently serves as Mayor of Billings; as mayor, he has promoted several conservation initiatives, such as creation of an Energy and Conservation Commission (a citizen’s advisory board to the City Council to review current energy consumption and conservation policies) and paper recycling in the schools, which saved 90 tons of paper during the pilot program.

He is currently investigating the potential for LED lighting in downtown Billings. Tussing believes sustainable, renewable, affordable and reliable energy should be the goal of the PSC, and that education and demand-side incentives are the most effective ways to promote conservation.

He supports providing incentives to create clean energy and believes cap-and-trade or a greenhouse gas tax should be a last resort. PSC District 2 covers southeastern Montana.

He faces incumbent Republican Brad Molnar in the general election.  Molnar was a cosponsor of the bill to deregulate energy in 1997.
