Steve Bullock for Attorney General

Steve Bullock for Montana Attorney GeneralSteve Bullock has been endorsed by Montana Conservation Voters in his race for Attorney General, citing his firm commitment to use the post's authority to protect and promote the constitutional promise for a "clean and healthful environment," and, as a member of the State Land Board, to manage state lands as a trustee for today as well as future generations.

"Steve Bullock has proven his willingness to protect this state's high quality of life as Attorney General and Montana Conservation Voters is proud to offer him our endorsement and the seal-of-approval of Montana's conservation community," said Theresa Keaveny, Executive Director of Montana Conservation Voters.

"Steve already has a proven track record of service in the office of Attorney General, where he fought for public stream access and has consistently worked to protect and promote Montana conservation values.

The group noted that the Attorney General race is very important for the majority of Montanans who are concerned with conservation issues and recreational values, including historic hunting and fishing rights.

"Our endorsement decision was made easier by the stark contrasts seen in the conservation records of the two candidates for Montana's Attorney General," said Dave Tyler, a Belgrade rancher who is the Co-Chair of the Montana Conservation Voters Board of Directors, noting that Republican Tim Fox did not participate in MCV's endorsement process. Fox also disregarded Montana's 52,000 strong base of conservation and environmental group members, to whom MCV provides voter participation services, by not participating in the group's Bozeman Attorney General Candidate Forum in February, prior to endorsements, like the other four candidates, and not meeting with MCV leaders or completing an endorsement questionnaire.

"While Steve Bullock will press for responsible stewardship of Montana's 5.2 million acres of school trust lands with an eye toward the next generation, Tim Fox is pushing a radical agenda of rampant oil drilling, coal mining, and development at any cost," Tyler concluded.
