Northern Rockies Natural Resource Center
The fish and wildlife resources of the northern Rockies are a national treasure. The Northern Rockies office unites people throughout Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Idaho to protect and enhance the region's fish and wildlife populations and the habitat upon which they depend. We work in partnership with our state affiliates, concerned citizens, and other grassroots groups to advocate for endangered species and balanced public land management policies, and to build the public awareness and understanding needed to make sound decisions on wildlife and natural resources. We have been working in the Yellowstone ecosystem since 2002 on a program to retire livestock grazing allotments that experience chronic conflict with wildlife, especially grizzly bears and wolves. Ranchers receive fair payment for retiring their allotments, and typically use these funds to secure grazing in locations without wildlife conflicts.
