Whitefish -- Montana Conservation Voters Flathead Chapter is holding its Annual Meeting to gather conservationists, state legislators, and local leaders in the Flathead area. The will be held the evening of July 7th from 5:00-7:30 at O' Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish

“This year, Montana State Senator Ryan Zinke will speak about the local and national importance of establishing Montana as a leader in our country’s renewable energy future,” said Dave Hadden, Flathead Chapter Chair. “From the national security implications to the impacts of climate change, concerns about oil dependency span political borders.”

“Montana has a wealth of untapped renewable energy resources, but without strong conservation leadership at the local and statewide levels, big coal and oil companies will continue to see favoritism and tax incentives,” said Hadden, “Senator Zinke can offer some great perspective on how decisions made during the 2011 legislative session will impact Montana’s ability to compete in the renewable energy marketplace.”

The public and Montana Conservation Voters’ members are invited and dinner and drinks will beprovided.  Those interested in how to make a difference in protecting the area’s clean air, water, and open spaces are encouraged to attend.  A $10 entry fee and introductory membership is requested of nonmembers with free entry for current MCV members.

Montana Conservation Voters is a non-partisan, membership group working to translate conservation values into Montana public policy priorities.  MCV has been working for 12 years to protect Montana's air, land, water and communities by engaging voters to be involved in our democracy.
