Join the Missoula County Conservation Roundtable meeting next week Thursday May 20th at the Missoula Public Library’s Large meeting room from 12:00 to 1:30.

The summer is almost upon us…
While many of us will be leaving town and taking a vacation the issues the Roundtable has identified as important to follow will continue to develop and require our concerted attention. Please join us next week as we continue to organize on the following issues:
• Climate change and energy
• Responsible development
• Transportation and complete streets
• Integrated Waste Management
• Water quality and quantity
Just last April we discussed the following issues;
a. The Environmental Assessment pertaining to the Kearl Oil Sands Project
b. The Missoula City Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory
c. Sonata Park Subdivision
For more information on last month’s meeting join us this Thursday, May 20th from 12:00 - 1:30 at the Missoula Public Library (large meeting room). Please plan to attend and bring your lunch. As usual, please bring handouts to share information about your latest campaigns. We will begin at 12:00 sharp.

2. Update on the proposed ExxonMobil transportation route through Missoula for development of the Kearl Oil Sands Project: Various organizers with Noshipmentsmissoula will be in attendance: 20 minutes
• Thanks to all who organized on this under extremely short notice
• Outcome of public hearings, petition, comment cards and other organizing tactics
• Report on City Council Resolution from May10th
• Review shortcomings of the MT Department of Transportation’s Environmental Assessment
• Next steps: 60 days to challenge
3. How can we advocate for the following prioritized policy initiatives in a cost neutral manner especially as we head into the summer months: 20 minutes
-Preserving agriculture land
-Complete streets for Russell Street reconstruction
-Mso Greenhouse Gas Emission Inventory
• Coalition letter to decision makers
• Letters to the editors of local newspapers
• Media strategies
• Petition drive
• Face to face w/ decision makers
• Turn out to public comment hearings
• Identify ways to do mass phone calls and emails to decision makers and our constituents
